Lambert Hsu, RHU

Lambert joined the insurance industry as an independent agent in 1989 and was later recruited by Centerstone Insurance (dba BenefitMall.com) as District Manager of their San Diego regional office. Later promoted to Director of National Sales, he orchestrated the launch of their National Sales Center in Dallas, Texas.

In 2001, Lambert founded Benefit Pro Insurance Services and has successfully built a thriving and reputable employee benefits agency. He has consulted for legislators in Sacramento and Washington D.C. with his field expertise of the California health insurance market, and has earned the distinction as recipient of the National Association of Health Underwriters prestigious “Golden Eagle Leading Producer’s Round Table” award from 2006 to 2010.

Lambert has been invited as guest speaker for numerous organizations, including: San Diego Society of Human Resource Management, California Employers Association, San Diego Employers Association, San Diego Employers Advisory Council, Asian Business Association, Business Healthcare Connection, Association of Legal Administrators, San Diego Association of Health Underwriters, San Diego Insurance Women, Financial Executives Networking Group and Sharp Health Plan.

In addition to being a graduate of San Diego State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering, he has served on Boards for numerous organizations including the Alliance Healthcare Foundation, Asian Business Association, YWCA of San Diego County, San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce Healthcare Committee, San Diego Foundation for Medical Care Agent Advisory Council and San Diego Incubator Corporation.

Carrie Alexander

Carrie Alexander has over thirteen years of experience in the employee benefits and insurance industry. Starting in 1995 at Humana of Texas, she specialized in employer sponsored medical, dental, vision, life, short-term and long-term disability policies. During her tenure, Carrie earned numerous promotions, including: Large Group Sales Coordinator, Account Manager, Provider Relations Representative, Referral Coordinator and Key Accounts Manager.

Moving to San Diego in 1999, she joined PrideStaff as an energetic Account Executive in the staffing industry working closely with the HR community.

Recruited by Northwestern Mutual’s Strategic Employee Benefits Services in 2001, she earned the responsibility and successfully managed a portfolio of small and large group accounts. In 2010, Carrie joined the Benefit Pro team as an experienced Employee Benefits Advisor.

Deric Fernandez

Deric Fernandez is a dynamic Employee Benefits Advisor with 13+ years of industry experience. Starting as a Claims Processor for Aetna in 1989, he quickly climbed the corporate ladder to Mid-Market Sales Consultant, Large Group Sales Consultant and eventually, to National Accounts Manager.

Deric excelled in his new role as National Accounts Manager for Cigna, where he successfully led the acquisition of several significant national accounts. He was later recruited by Premier Access, a regional dental insurer, to lead the sales and service of small and mid-sized accounts in the San Diego market. In 2010, Deric acted on his career ambition to serve as a benefits broker and joined the Benefit Pro team.

Deric earned his MBA from National University in 2006 and also teaches classes in Communications and Marketing for San Diego University of Integrative Studies and Kaplan College.

Karen Winters

Karen Winters has over twenty years of sales experience in the small business community.  Karen comes to Benefit Pro from the PEO (Professional Employer Organization) industry, where she gained a unique and valuable understanding of the complexities of payroll processing, Workers Compensation, Liability Insurances, Retirement Plans, Flexible Spending Accounts, and a vast array of employee benefits. 

During her years in the PEO industry Karen worked with multiple carriers and an extensive number of employee benefit plans.  Her desire to help individuals and businesses find the best benefit solutions and receive excellent customer service drew her into the brokerage side of the business.

Karen graduated from Wittenberg University with a degree in finance and accounting, reflecting her love of number crunching.  Originally from the New York area she relocated to Arizona in 1992 and continued west to San Diego in 2005. Karen is an avid traveler, spends as much time as she can enjoying outdoor activities, and loves living in downtown San Diego.

Beverly Brushaber

Beverly Brushaber is a highly valuable and experienced Senior Account Manager who has been in the health insurance industry for over twenty-two years. Starting at Aetna in 1987 as a Medical and Dental Claims Processor, Beverly was quickly recognized for her attention to detail and excellent communication skills, and was soon promoted to Customer Service.

It was in this role where Beverly developed her natural strength in assisting policyholders and service providers with plan administration, eligibility/billing issues and claim inquiries.

She later tackled self-funded accounts at a third party administrator before moving to National Dental Health (later known as Assurant Employee Benefits). Beverly excelled in her role as statewide Complaint Resolution & Grievance Specialist and became the sole Account Manager for California and West Coast accounts, where she successfully managed all aspects of her customer portfolio.

In 2004, Beverly joined Benefit Pro Insurance Services, where she has maintained an exceptionally high level of service and loyalty. She brings a wealth of knowledge and organization, which makes her a key asset to the Benefit Pro team. Additionally, she is highly regarded by our clients and carrier relationships. Beverly’s passion and commitment have earned her the reputation as “HR Manager’s Best Friend.”
